Tea Tree Oil For Skin Care

Published by amkaylor at 11:53 am under Body Care, Cleansers, Moisturizers Edit This

Essential oils are a wonderful way to begin with natural skin care.  Essential oils not only give the added benefit of aromatherapy, they have skin healing properties, as well.

Tea tree oil is used in the cosmetic industry mostly for treating skin care problems that occur with acne.  Tea tree oil is naturally antiseptic.  Because the most common type of acne is caused by bacteria, using tea tree oil for acne problems provides a natural solution.

To use tea tree oil as a natural acne care solution, it is important to always choose a cosmetic grade tea tree oil.    Be wary of essential oil blends that use low concentrations of tea tree oil.  Brands like Aveda, Aura Cacia, and Hyalunia are all trusted, recommended essential oil manufacturers.

To use tea tree oil to treat acne breakouts or problem skin, add one or two drops of oil to your favorite skin care product.  Never apply the concentrated oil directly to the skin.  Adding the tea tree oil to a cleanser will help control acne over the entire face, in the same way that adding tea tree oil to a moisturizer will.  However, you should always use caution when using tea tree oil around the eye area.

To use tea tree oil as an acne spot treatment, simply mix one drop of oil to 10 drops of water or an oil-free moisturizer.  Apply to the spot as needed up to five times per day.
